The Yamal LNG (liquefied natural gas) mega-project in the Arctic region of Russia expects to open a new era in Northeast route shipping. The availability of the Arctic Route is, however, limited to a couple of months because of the ice, so a special icebreaking LNG carrier is needed to extend the service period.

Challenging environment

The world's first ARC-7 LNG carrier is currently being constructed by DSME, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. DSME has chosen Roxtec sealing solutions to meet the demands for environmental and EMI protection. ARC-7 means that the ship is able to break ice that is up to about 2.1 meters thick.

Trusted by ship owners and shipyards

DSME knows that Roxtec is a reliable partner thanks to a long history of working together. DSME encountered obstacles while working on the project, including inquiries in quality, delivery and performance, but was able to solve these issues with Roxtec's excellent quality and strong customer support.
