Leading modular data center company Getworks in Japan is using Roxtec pipe penetration seals to avoid time-consuming welding and secure tightness. With Roxtec robust pipe seals, they can rapidly deliver safe, scalable and sustainable data centers.
Getworks designs and manufactures environmentally friendly data centers in just weeks or months to meet the urgent needs of the industry. The Yuzawa GX Datacenter in Echigo-Yuzawa is a good example. The containers use biomass energy, well water, river water, and cool air, and are equipped with water cooling systems that enable operation of GPU servers for AI.
Roxtec seals help Getworks ensure tightness
Before using Roxtec, Getworks had to perform regular repairs to prevent water ingress. The pipe penetrations deteriorated due to harsh environment, snow and direct sunlight. Wanting to build reliable modular data centers, Getworks decided to install Roxtec RS seals to verify the performance. They were thus able to confirm the watertightness, airtightness and weather resistance of the Roxtec sealing system.
Getworks had pursued an operational environment that thoroughly eliminated the risk of water leakage and flooding. The Roxtec tightness performance was the decisive factor.

For any demanding condition
Data center modules are located outside and separated only by container walls, so they must cope with the external environment. Getworks wanted to prevent air and moisture from entering the containers and causing condensation. It is crucial to maintain constant humidity and temperature in the server room. Now Getworks know that Roxtec seals can be used at any destination and in any condition, from north to south, mountainside to seaside, wherever the modules are transported.
Ryutaro Hayashi, Executive Officer/Manager of Business Integration Department, Getworks Co., Ltd., comments:
"Using Roxtec seals allowed us to mitigate the risk of water ingress associated with adopting liquid cooling in our data centers. It also improved airtightness, further enhancing the value of our containerized data centers."
Enabling future expansion
Getworks found more advantages, besides tightness. Roxtec seals are easy to install, and openable to allow for scalability. It is easy to add cables and equipment and change placement of server cabinets. When expansion calls for reinstallation of piping, Roxtec seals make work so much easier, and it is always good to be able to save time on piping rework.
In the Yuzawa GX Datacenter, Roxtec RS seals are used for cooling water pipe penetrations. In the future, Getworks would like to use Roxtec transits for communication and power cables between containers.
Using Roxtec seals allowed us to mitigate the risk of water ingress associated with adopting liquid cooling in our data centers. It also improved airtightness, further enhancing the value of our containerized data centers.
