Mobility solution provider Alstom has a long story of cooperation with cable and pipe sealing expert Roxtec.
Roxtec has for 20 years contributed with know-how on solutions for sealing, cable retention and clamping, supplying in accordance with specific requirements, such as the EN 45545 fire standard, and other needs defined by the Alstom engineering teams. Roxtec is present in Alstom’s global database, PPL, with a significant number of products, and ranked in the C-class category.
The Roxtec contribution has always been about facilitating for the Alstom design and production teams within rolling stock regardless of location in the world. For example, when the work to harmonize fire safety across Europe resulted in the EN 45545 fire standard, and it became mandatory in 2018 for all operators, manufacturers, and suppliers, Roxtec was in a good position to meet the requirements.
Today, all Roxtec sealing solutions for rolling stock are tested in accordance with the fire safety standard for railway vehicles. The close collaboration with Alstom engineering teams has resulted in a specific portfolio of products fit for Alstom and well proven in many recent projects such as Avelia Liberty in the US, RER NG in France, NJT 3 in Canada, Metro of Perth in Australia and Bucharest Metro line 5 in Brazil. Another proof of the good cooperation is that Roxtec UK has been selected preferred supplier by Alstom UK.
A partner among partners
Roxtec has over the years developed working processes also with important Alstom partners such as Hiolle Technologies, Sirail for the harness and Harting Manufacturing. The company has provided sealing solutions ready to implement already upon preparing the cable harnesses, thus saving installation time for the final assembly teams. Roxtec’s work with Alstom and Harting for the Aventra platform gave birth to a whole new range of sealing solutions for jumper cables and bogies that help save installation time and improve quality.
Thanks to its local presence worldwide, Roxtec has been able to work with Alstom throughout projects from design and prototyping through to serial production and thereby contribute to consistency and implementation of best practices to secure quality, cost-effectiveness, and long-term reliability.
