The railway tunnel between Feldkirchen and Zettling in Austria has strict requirements regarding fire protection, watertightness and rodent resistance. To meet all demands, contractor Porr specified Roxtec cable and pipe seals – and the installers of Lindner Isoliertechnik secured EI90 fire protection with ease.
“The single-sided installation saves us money and time. Roxtec provided excellent support at all times,” says Jürgen Hofstätter, construction manager of Porr.
The support from Roxtec was beneficial already from the preparation phases of the project. Roxtec representatives assisted in the tender specification work. This included onsite checks for detailed demand specifications as well as measurement and feasibility checks done in advance by the local Roxtec technical department. Roxtec was also present to monitor and simplify the installation work.
Satisfying sealing performance
The accurate preparation work enabled the installers of Lindner Isoliertechnik to seal power cables, signal cables, network cables and fiber optic cables in a smooth, safe and correct manner. They were also able to seal around plastic polyethylene pipes. The installers noted that the Roxtec sealing system provided a stable and secure sealing.
Easy to ensure fire protection
Roxtec sealing solutions were used to manage the high requirements. By replacing other systems with Roxtec, the installers were able to reach the EI90 fire protection rating with the single-sided installation. Furthermore, the seals are openable, which means it is easy to return for modifications or upgrades.
