Roxtec seals specified for Fisheries Patrol Vessel

Shipbuilder Parkol Marine specified Roxtec sealing solutions for the construction and outfitting of the unique NEIFCA vessel “North Eastern Guardian IV”. The government-funded vessel plays a critical role in protecting marine ecosystems and ensuring compliance with fisheries regulations in the Northeastern region of the UK.

Designed for fisheries enforcement, marine surveillance, and environmental survey operations, the vessel integrates advanced systems and infrastructure. It includes electrical cabling and penetrations through structural materials such as aluminum and steel. The project required A-Class rated seals to meet stringent fire protection and safety standards. Roxtec’s certified systems met and exceeded these requirements.

Seals and software for peace of mind

Roxtec is a trusted and preferred choice for Parkol Marine. They consistently use the seals across all new builds and retrofit projects due to their proven reliability and performance.

“As a yard we adopted Roxtec cable and pipe seals as our standard offering some time ago now, due to the quality and reliability of the products,” says Ben Hogarth, Electrical Manager of Parkol Marine. “Installing Roxtec’s high quality and certified seals gives peace of mind that once completed the seals will meet requirements for the long term whilst also being easy to adjust in the case of future alterations.”

“The Roxtec Transit Designer™ software is also very helpful when designing the penetrations and ordering the required materials, saving valuable time and preventing mistakes sizing the penetrations installed,” says Ben Hogarth.

Positive installation experience

The installation of Roxtec products was completed without any issues. Installers reported that the system was straightforward to work with, contributing to significant time savings and reduced material usage. The modular design and adaptability of Roxtec seals allowed for efficient installation, even in complex areas.

Proven long-term quality

Peter Stevenson, Lead Engineer at vessel owner and operator NEIFCA, highlights the reliability and ease of use of Roxtec seals, and describes them as a “fit and forget” solution. He references their previous vessel that had Roxtec: it was 17 years old but had no signs of degrading or issues and it has now gone over to a new life in Poland.

Installing Roxtec’s high quality and certified seals gives peace of mind.
