Supporting shipyard in Indonesia with seals and software

The shipyard has used Roxtec solutions in two recent projects – the construction of a 70-meter Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel for Rawabi Vallianz Offshore Services P/L and the construction of a Research Vessel for a Taiwan customer. 

For the AHTS, Rawabi Vallianz Offshore Services P/L requested multi-cable transits instead of the previously used compound-based sealing methods. They wanted a reliable, space-efficient and flexible sealing solution that would meet engineering standards and allow for future amendments. Roxtec was chosen as supplier – of both the free design tool and the cable seals with Multidiameter™.  

Cut engineering time by half

The Roxtec Transit Designer™ was used for efficient cable transit design and space reservation planning, and the Roxtec team provided immediate technical advice whenever needed. The time savings of more than 50% were important since the project could not afford any downtime.

Reliable sealing and shielding 

Roxtec watertight cable transits were easily adapted to cables of different sizes. For cable entries in certain rooms of the vessel, Roxtec solutions for electromagnetic shielding were installed. Thanks to the consistent, standardized design with flexible seals that provide built-in capabilities for retrofit and upgrades, the production department saved a lot of time as well.  

Enabling quick modifications 

For the construction of the Research Vessel, MCTs were specified and Roxtec was chosen. The decision was influenced by strong local support, installation training for electricians and technical assistance. The project required time-efficient and flexible seals for multiple cable sizes. The main challenge was to meet the deadline: there was a 24-month schedule, and rework and cable adjustments were frequent. The Roxtec sealing system enabled quick modifications and easy configuration.

Support for all departments   

The design engineers at the shipyard got help in using the Roxtec design tool. The installers were offered an installation training to learn the correct use of Roxtec watertight and shielding cable and pipe seals. Urgent logistics support was also provided when additional materials were required on short notice. This helped reduce maintenance needs, all while enabling scalability for upgrades.
