Roxtec solutions in new rigs from Petrobras
Roxtec Brazil is selected to supply seals to the new P-59 and P-60 self-drilling rigs from Petrobras. The first entirely Brazilian made drilling rigs will allow Petrobras to drill under high pressure and high temperature in shallow waters. Roxtec seals will help ensuring long-term operational reliability and even provide capacity for future upgrades.
This project of Petrobras Netherlands BV is encouraging domestic production. The platform construction is carried out in an area of about 400,000 sq. m. in the bed of São Roque do Paraguaçu in Maragojipe municipality. It is performed by the engineering and construction consortium Paraguaçu River, consisting of firms Norberto Odebrecht SA, Constructora Queiroz Galvao SA and UTC Engenharia SA. The consortium is cooperating with the US firm LeTourneau Offshore Products, which is responsible for engineering design and drilling equipment, and with the Brazilian company Projemar, which handles detailed engineering design.
The project fits Roxtec perfectly, since the cable and pipe seal supplier is a global company striving for a very strong local presence.
