Roxtec seals deal with research laboratory
Roxtec supplies the new Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) building on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus in the UK. The LMB is one of the most prestigious research centers in the world. Many techniques have been pioneered there, and the work of LMB scientists has led to numerous awards including 9 Nobel Prizes. Construction work on the new building is due to complete in 2012.
Graham O’Hare, Managing Director of Roxtec in the UK, says that the project showcases Roxtec’s specialist knowledge in the clean room sector:
“Biological containment laboratories are by their very nature hazardous. Roxtec products help ensure that the services entering the clean or contained structure are properly airtight and sealed. At the LMB Roxtec is used to seal all cables, pipes and ducts entering into the laboratories for all services including power, data, lighting, communications, door entry, security, water, gas, extraction and drainage. Roxtec seals are capable of maintaining a gas tight seal in both negative and positive pressure environments.”
Roxtec has developed bespoke products for the project and helped with both the design and installation – taking engineering headaches out of the project for the customer.
