Efficient vibration analysis

2010-08-16

The new equipment for vibration analysis will be valuable for Roxtec customers. With an extensive knowledge about the vibration damping properties of each product, the Roxtec team is able to guide the customer to the right sealing solution for the right application. The need for handling vibration issues varies between sectors such as shipbuilding and wind power. On a ship, for example, small vibrations follow the hydraulic piping from the engine and accelerate into the structure. The result is amplified noise, which is neither comfortable to cruise in nor smart for a navy ship on a secret mission. In a wind farm, there are more concerns about vibrations reducing the life time of large power cables and installations.
“With this mobile equipment, we can measure natural frequencies and analyze the source of the noise, even on site”, says Tests & Certificates Engineer Pierre Berglund. “The rubber in our seals makes them very good for absorbing vibrations, but we always strive to improve them further.”
