Chinese chief designers recommend Roxtec

Roxtec seals are adaptable to cables and pipes of different sizes and keep the water out of the main power supply rooms. The seals are also useful since they provide spare capacity for future needs and upgrades. These are some of the reasons for Chinese infrastructure chief designers to recommend Roxtec to their colleagues. At one of the leading engineering design institutes of Shanghai, Vice Chief Engineer Mrs. Wang and Electric and Automation Engineer Mr. Zhao are working on important infrastructure projects such as tunnels and wastewater treatment plants. The projects take on an environmental challenge, improving living conditions in Shanghai.

Convincing experiences

The infrastructure designers have, for example, the Bailonggang Wastewater Treatment Plant – planned to be Asia’s largest with a capacity of 3.5 million tons per day – on their list of achievements. They are familiar with Roxtec cable and pipe sealing solutions not only from the Bailonggang project, but also through years of use and cooperation. Mrs. Wang learnt about Roxtec already in 2004 and introduced colleagues to use Roxtec in 2005.
“I started using Roxtec seals in electric engineering in smaller wastewater treatment projects in the year 2007, and it worked very well,” says Mrs. Wang. “We use the seals underground to prevent water from leaking into the transformer rooms.”

Good value for money

Mrs. Wang and Mr. Zhao do not hesitate at all when it comes to selecting the most efficient method. They have discovered how to simplify work and ensure water-tightness:
“It is true that Roxtec cable seals require skillful installers. But at the same time the seals simplify design, installation and changes. The quality is very good and the seals have several advantages compared to traditional solutions based on concrete. Roxtec seals guarantee long-term stability and reliability. In our bigger projects, we handle considerable investments. If you look at the total cost, you do not pay much for Roxtec products compared to what you gain in terms of safety, assurance and peace of mind. It is also easy to make unexpected changes or add cables even when the structure is finished.”
The designers explain that they plan for 30 percent spare capacity already in the drawings.

No bad surprise on site

Mrs. Wang and Mr. Zhao are also satisfied with Multidiameter™, the special Roxtec solution for adaptability of each seal to cables and pipes of different sizes through sealing modules with removable layers. Too many contractors, working in various sectors, recognize that planning does not always correspond to the real situation on site. The Roxtec solution, however, never leaves an installer without an appropriate seal at hand.
“It is useful, since nobody knows what kind of cables will be used in the project or in the future. Normally, we are only aware of the cable range. Roxtec seals cover many needs.”
