Towards increased sustainability
Successful steps towards a more environmentally focused product development process have been taken at the Roxtec headquarters in Sweden. In close co-operation with the employees, researching master program students Anna Barkan, Daniel Gunnarsson and Olaf Postel from BTH, Blekinge Institute of Technology, have evaluated a method for sustainable product development. The tool is a reminder for developers to always check if there are greener options available, and helps combining profitability with sustainability.
The students have been working on their thesis according to the process for sustainable product innovation of Ph.D. Henrik Ny of BTH and the prize-winning strategic model for sustainability of Dr. Karl-Henrik Robèrt, professor at BTH and founder of the Natural Step organization. His win-win-model is spreading rapidly, since it helps companies to make money along the road to sustainability, uniting financial, social and ecological growth.
